What can the trees around us tell us about Bengaluru?
Join Kavya Chandra, Founder of A Green Venture and Certified Naturalist, on a slow, immersive nature and tree walk through the lanes of Mahalakshmi Layout, discovering some of Bengaluru’s familiar plant and tree species through a different lens.
Along the way, we’ll get to know the trees and plants that shape our everyday landscapes—their ecological roles, fascinating stories, origins, relationships with birds and insects, and the ways they have adapted to life in an ever-changing city.
But this walk goes beyond identifying trees. Through plants, we’ll explore the story of Bengaluru’s green influence—from its trees and historic avenues to parks, lakes and interconnected green spaces, and how this unique urban landscape continues to support countless species of birds, insects, plants and other life.
We’ll also look at Bengaluru itself through the lens of its trees—how the city has grown, how its landscapes have changed, and how plants quietly tell stories of the city’s history, people, climate and culture.
Come walk, observe, listen and perhaps look at the trees you pass every day a little differently.

Starting near Mahalakshmi Metro Station and ending at Bangalore Creative Circus. It’s a 1.2km stretch.
