What if every campus could become a living laboratory for biodiversity research and conservation?
College and university campuses often support diverse ecosystems, from native plants and trees to birds, insects and other wildlife. Yet, these natural spaces are not always documented or monitored consistently. Citizen science offers an opportunity to change that by bringing together students, researchers, educators and local communities to observe, document and understand the biodiversity around them.
At the CitSci India Conference 2026, explore this through the theme Campus Biodiversity and Citizen Science: Building Long-term Biodiversity Monitoring Networks across Educational Institutions, convened by Ahmed Masood Khan.
The session will explore how educational institutions can move beyond individual biodiversity projects to establish long-term monitoring programmes, encourage student participation and build connected networks of campuses contributing to biodiversity research and conservation.
