What is the Hebbal short tunnel project?
The BDA's proposed Hebbal short tunnel project is a multi-crore, short-length, three-lane, bi-directional vehicular underpass, aims to connect the Hebbal flyover junction to the Veterinary College through the GKVK premises. The total cost for the 2.2 km tunnel roads is estimated to be Rs. 1385.29 Cr.
The tunnel would cut through Bengaluru's Veterinary College Campus at Hebbal, would cut through one of the last green-blue landscapes in North Bengaluru, home to 94 bird species, 414 plant species, and ecosystems that species across the region depend on for survival and eat up a portion of the Hebbal buffer zone.
